Vi showcases 5G

NEW DELHI: Vodafone Idea Limited (VIL), leading telecom operator, today demonstrated a range of 5G-based technology solutions as part of its ongoing 5G trials on government allocated 5G spectrum in Pune, Maharashtra and Gandhinagar, Gujarat.

With the purpose for a better tomorrow, Vi has been conducting 5G trials and developed a wide range of use cases relevant for Enterprises and Consumers in India. Vi has partnered with industry leaders like L&T Smart World & Communication, Athonet, Indian start-ups like Vizzbee & Tweek Labs, and technology leaders – Ericsson and Nokia for trialling use cases in the two locations.

Committed to helping its customers thrive and have a better tomorrow, Vi is leveraging the power of 5G technology across segments such as industry 4.0, smart cities, smart healthcare, smart workplace, smart education, smart agriculture, gaming, amongst others. Vi’s trials have proven that high data speed, low latency and reliability of 5G technology, can bring about massive developments by enhancing business performance, revolutionizing customer experience, changing consumer lifestyle and positively impacting people dwelling in remote corners of India.

Vi has been allocated 26 GHz and 3.5 GHz spectrum in the mmWave band by the DoT, for 5G network trials and use cases. Vi has achieved peak speeds in excess of 1.5 Gbps on 3.5 GHz, more than 4.2 Gbps on 26 GHz and up to 9.8 Gbps on backhaul spectrum of E-bands.

The 5G trial network set up by Vi in Pune, deploys Ericsson Radios and Ericsson Dual Mode Core based on cloud native technology comprising of 5G SA, 5G NSA & LTE packet core functions. All use cases demonstrated in Pune have been developed over Ericsson’s 5G technology solutions.

In Gandhinagar, Vi is using Nokia’s AirScale radio portfolio and Microwave E-band solution for the trial that support enterprises, both large and small and medium businesses with reliable connectivity. Vi use cases in Gandhinagar were demonstrated via a live telecast at the special media preview held in Pune.

Nokia to showcase 5G private wireless at 2022 TISSOT UCI Track World Championships

NEW DELHI: Nokia has announced that it has become an official partner of the 2022 TISSOT UCI Track World Championships being held near Paris in October. Nokia is working with the French Cycling Federation to deploy a 5G private wireless network solution at the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines National Velodrome.

The deployment will enable an immersive digital experience for fans and enhance security and safety at the event.

Nokia is already partnering with the Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines Community on 5G projects in the 26 Ghz band at the National Velodrome. With 25,000 spectators expected over five days, the event provides a platform to showcase how 5G private wireless can meet the demands of thousands of people in an arena as they simultaneously access data and video over their devices. The low-latency and high-bandwidth capabilities of 5G will enable the arena owners and communications service providers to offer new data-driven services at similar events.

The private wireless network using mmWave for 5G will be deployed with Nokia Modular Private Wireless (MPW) solution. It will demonstrate how enterprises in France can leverage 5G mmWave to advance their digital transformation.

By harnessing the high-quality TV production and the different streams available and thanks to the deployment of new technology solutions, Nokia will contribute to enhance the viewing experience for fans in the arena and millions watching at home around the globe.

French Cycling Federation teams will benefit from enhanced video capture and real-time processing of data. Greater situational awareness and the ability to instantly share data and video will enhance maintenance and security efforts and ensure the smooth and safe running of the event. In addition, sports teams can benefit, as more wearable technology is connected, allowing them to access real-time health and performance data and video to help them better prepare for races.

Airtel, TCS demonstrate 5G based remote robotic operations and artificial intelligence driven quality inspection

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel Limited and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) have announced the successful testing of innovative use cases from TCS’ Neural Manufacturing solutions suite on Airtel’s ultra-fast and low latency 5G network.

Airtel has been allocated 5G trial spectrum by the Department of Telecommunications for the purpose of technology validation. Airtel has rolled out #5GforBusiness initiative and is partnering with leading technology companies to demonstrate a wide range of enterprise grade use cases using high speed & low latency networks.

Airtel and TCS joined forces to test 5G based use cases from TCS’s Neural Manufacturing suite of solutions. These solutions help manufacturers build smart, cognitive factories which mimic resilient and adaptive behaviours as well as enable remote robotic operations in potentially hazardous environments like Mining, Chemical plants and Oil & Gas fields to safeguard human capital. They leverage the ultra-reliable low latency communication, enhanced bandwidth, and high device density characteristics of 5G networks and the combinatorial power of emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning, computer vision, industrial robotics and Augmented Reality/Virtual Reality to enable autonomous actions.

TCS successfully tested two use cases on Airtel’s 5G testbed – remote robotics operations, and vision-based quality inspection, demonstrating how TCS’ Neural Manufacturing solutions and 5G technology can transform industrial operations, and significantly boost quality, productivity and safety. The demonstration was done at Airtel’s 5G Lab in Manesar (Gurgaon).

Airtel, Capgemini to collaborate on 5G-based solutions for Enterprises

NEW DELHI: Bharti Airtel, India’s premier communications and solutions provider, and Capgemini today announced that they will collaborate on bringing 5G-based enterprise grade solutions to the India market.

Airtel and Capgemini will bring together their experience in connectivity and 5G solutioning, and System Integration (SI) capabilities, to co-innovate a range of India-focused use cases. Capgemini’s 5G Lab, situated within its Mumbai campus, and Airtel’s 5G Lab in Manesar will be the development hubs.

Two 5G use cases have already been deployed by Capgemini at Airtel’s 5G Lab. These are focused on Smart Health and Immersive Remote Assistance for Field Operations and Maintenance. These use case solutions leverage computer vision, video analytics, augmented reality and AI/ML technologies.

Airtel is also spearheading the O-RAN Alliance initiatives in India to build 5G solutions.
