Seema Ambastha appointed CEO of Brookfield-Digital Realty data centre Joint Venture

NEW DELHI: Digital Realty, the largest global provider of cloud- and carrier-neutral data center, colocation and interconnection solutions, announced that BAM Digital Realty – its Indian joint venture with Brookfield Infrastructure L.P.and its institutional partners (“Brookfield Infrastructure”) – has received all requisite regulatory approvals and the parties have closed the joint venture previously announced on July 14, 2021.

The joint venture enables the expansion of PlatformDIGITAL, Digital Realty’s global data center platform, which supports the evolving data, control and networking demands of global service providers as well as global and local enterprises. Its expansion across India is expected to enable customers to rapidly scale digital transformation by deploying critical infrastructure with a leading global data center provider at the heart of a growing connected data community in India. Data centers developed in India will leverage Digital Realty’s industry-leading energy-efficient data center design and operating procedures and highly repeatable Pervasive Data Center Architecture (PDx) approach for the new digital workplace.

In addition, Seema Ambastha has been appointed CEO of the joint venture. Ambastha joins BAM Digital Realty from NTT Netmagic where she held the position of Senior Executive Vice President, India Sales and Solution Engineering. Prior to that, she worked for Netmagic IT Services, Rolta, VMware, Oracle and Wipro Infotech. She has a strong academic background with a PhD in Computer Science as well as rich experience across diverse IT disciplines spanning more than three decades.

To support the expected rapid growth opportunity for data centers in India, BAM Digital Realty has also recently filled multiple senior leadership positions, in the fields of Design & Construction as well as Business Development.

Indian-origin man appointed CIA’s first chief technology officer

NEW DELHI: Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) Director William J. Burns announced the appointment of Nand Mulchandani to serve as CIA’s first-ever Chief Technology Officer (CTO).Mulchandani, an Indian-origin man who studied at Delhi’s Bluebells School International between 1979-1987.

With more than 25 years’ experience working in Silicon Valley as well as the Department of Defense (DoD), Mulchandani brings substantial private sector, startup, and government expertise to CIA.

As the CTO, Mulchandani will ensure the Agency is leveraging cutting-edge innovations and scanning the horizon for tomorrow’s innovations to further CIA’s mission. “Since my confirmation, I have prioritized focusing on technology and the new CTO position is a very important part of that effort. I am delighted Nand has joined our team and will bring his extensive experience to this crucial new role,” said Director Burns.

Prior to joining CIA, Mulchandani most recently served as the CTO and Acting Director of DoD’s Joint Artificial Intelligence Center. He also co-founded and was CEO of several successful startups– Oblix (acquired by Oracle), Determina (acquired by VMWare), OpenDNS (acquired by Cisco), and ScaleXtreme (acquired by Citrix). He has a degree in Computer Science and Math from Cornell, a Master of Science degree in Management from Stanford, and a Master in Public Administration degree from Harvard.

Vishak Raman to head Fortinet’s Business in India, SAARC and Southeast Asia

NEW DELHI: Fortinet, a global leader in broad, integrated and automated cybersecurity solutions, today announced the appointment of Vishak Raman in a new role as the Vice President for Sales in India, SAARC and Southeast Asia.

Vishak Raman brings with him over two decades of experience in the cybersecurity space with proven expertise in product management, sales, marketing and business development. Earlier as the Senior Regional Director, India & SAARC at Fortinet, he was instrumental in establishing and growing Fortinet’s technology leadership and success story in India. He also set up a first-of-its-kind Technical Assistance Center at Bangalore which has over 200 engineers who provide 24/7 support to Fortinet’s customers in India and the Middle East.

Prior to Fortinet, he was Director of Security Business, India & SAARC at Cisco. Vishak who holds an engineering degree and a Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management from IIM Ahmedabad, has also worked in various roles at FireEye, Tata Communications, WatchGuard, Sify and HCl Technologies.

Chalapathi Rao to lead Orange Business Services in India

NEW DELHI: Orange Business Services has announced the appointment of Chalapathi Rao as General Manager for India, effective March 14, 2022. Taking over from Bala Mahadevan, who retired after a remarkable journey and outstanding accomplishments with Orange over the past decade, Chalapathi will lead Orange Business Services activities and growth in India.

Chalapathi is an experienced leader with a successful track record in the telecom space. With over three decades of multi-domain experience including R&D, Operations, Technology and Sales, Chalapathi joins Orange Business Services from Tata Communications Transformation Services Ltd (TCTS), where he served as the Chief Operating Officer. He has previously held successive leadership positions at BEL, Indian Railways, BPL, Lucent and Tata Communications Group.
