Naveen Patnaik flags off HP World on Wheels at Bhubaneswar

NEW DELHI: Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik flagged off HP World On Wheels (HPWoW) digital literacy bus atBhubaneswar secretariat today.

This WoW vehicle as part of HP India CSR initiative is designed to provide Digital Literacy IT Education Citizen Services Technical Education & Skill Development to residents across tribal dominated Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar district of the state.

“Flagged off ‘World on Wheels’ digital literacy bus. It will take digital education, entrepreneurship training & public services to people’s doorsteps. It will enable digital inclusion & lead to empowerment with honing of skills & capabilities leading to better lives for people,” said Patnaik on his twitter account.

HPWoW, is part of HP’s commitment to build and deploy 48 self-contained, Internet-enabled digital inclusion and learning labs in Public-private partnership (PPP) model aimed at driving digital literacy, E education, Entrepreneurship training, and other citizen services in rural India.

The Lab will allow individuals to gain access to IT literacy programs and connect to different government programs. The program aims to reach 6,400 Indian villages, impacting more than 15 million people over six years in the country.

Indus Towers contributes Rs 35 crore to PM-CARES Fund

NEW DELHI: Indus Towers has contributed Rs 35 Cores to the PM-Cares Fund, as a committed partner in supporting the country’s fight against COVID-19.

Additionally, Indus Towers’ teams on the frontline are playing a crucial role in enabling essential services of keeping India and society at large seamlessly connected through the mobile towers.

It is because of the efforts of the field force, the country has been able to maintain social distancing, while at the same time stayed connected with family, friends and colleagues. More importantly, businesses have been able to offer work from home option, and the role of connectivity has been a pivotal aspect of every organisation’s business continuity planning.

The field personnel of Indus Towers have equipped themselves with the necessary safety gear and working round the clock, even in designated hotspot regions. They have ensured continuous functioning of the mobile tower, which is most critical when it comes to enabling seamless connectivity.

The employees of Indus Towers have also made a collection which is being utilised to distribute vital Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) like masks, sanitizers, gloves, full body suits, sanitization kits, etc. to the medical professionals like doctors, nurses, para medical staff and to the police and administration who are at the front of this battle against the Corona Virus.

Apple donates Rs 7 crore for Kerala’s flood victims

Heartbroken by the catastrophic flooding in Kerala, US tech giant Apple on Saturday announced to donate Rs 7 crore towards the ongoing relief work.

“We’re heartbroken by the catastrophic flooding in Kerala. Apple is donating Rs 7 crore to support the life saving work Mercy Corps India and the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund are undertaking to support survivors, help those who have been displaced and rebuild homes and schools,” the Cupertino-based iPhone maker said in a statement.

Apple has also added support banners to its home page, along with App Store and iTunes Store, allowing customers to donate to Mercy Corps.

“We have also activated a donation button on iTunes and the App Store so customers who wish to donate to Mercy Corps’ efforts can do so easily,” Apple said.

Apple often uses the iTunes Store and App Stores to raise money for donation during major disasters.

Apple customers can donate $5, $10, $25, $50, $100, or $200 to Mercy Corps using credit and debit cards.

As many as 417 people have lost their lives in rains and floods as hundreds began returning home from relief camps, still leaving 8.69 lakh people in 2,787 shelters.

Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Friday that the deaths began since the monsoon rains started on May 29 but 265 of the casualties were reported from August 8 when torrential downpour triggered the worst flooding in the state in nearly a century.
